"Hi, I’m Taryn, a South African recently re-located to Northern Ireland. I have hands-on experience of wine and viticulture, having owned and lived on a farm with vineyards in the Overberg, South Africa. Since joining JN Wine a year ago, the rest of the world of wine has been opened to me. I’ve tasted and broadened my palate beyond the New World, and I’ve come to truly appreciate how broad and fascinating wine is. I have personal knowledge of South African Wines and a passion for farms, families and the stories behind the wines. So please do chat to me if you ever need any Western Cape wine route tips."
“My name is Stephen. I started with JN Wine as a delivery driver and have since become part of the retail team. Getting to meet our customers through delivering helped me realise how amazing the wine industry is and it made me want to experience and learn more about wine. From that glass of wine that gets you over that long day, to the bottle that brings friends and family together, whatever the reason I am always happy to guide you in the right direction.”
"My name is Seán and my wine expedition began 10 years ago. The magnetism of wine: its history, its respect and reflection of people and place, truly and seductively got its ‘tannins’ within me. The voyage began, much to the despair of my bank account. From the retail floor to the restaurant trade, I have worked and enjoyed the full spectrum of wine sales, customer service of the highest order is my raison d'être. Wine for me merges that most stimulating of mediums; travel, food, culture and art. In my spare time I enjoy reading, metal, motorbikes and cooking. I have recently begun my WSET Diploma in wine, which I am assured will keep me occupied and more importantly, tasting wine."
"My name’s Alex. I entered the industry initially part-time while studying for a Master’s Degree in Ecology a few years ago. It was in this time that I well and truly caught the ‘wine bug’; falling in love with how the often esoteric environmental processes that I studied were translated, quite tangibly, into the glass – enabling each wine to reveal its own sensorial story. I have now been with JN Wine for two years and am currently studying for my WSET Diploma Award in Wine which involves the constant research and tasting of wines from all over the world (someone’s got to do it)! So feel free to pick my brain on all things viticulture, viniculture and tasting technique! In addition, I work alongside our MW Jane Boyce in conducting the Fine Wine portion of the JN business but my driving, everyday passion is for seeking out affordable, quality wines that have an assured story and sense of place and sharing these with our customers. So be it enquiries ranging from the advising of fine wine and en primeur allocations for long term investment, to the recommendation of an affordable, characterful bottle to accompany your midweek evening dinner, I am only too happy to help."
“My name’s Jane, and in 2000 I became Ireland’s first female Master of Wine. My experience in the wine industry is wide ranging, having written for a number of publications, hosted my own wine course and been a judge in many awards, such as Decanter World Wine Awards in London. Having this many strings to my bow means I am perfectly positioned to help you with all of your fine wine enquiries. I love all things food and wine so if you are looking for the perfect dinner party treat, I’m sure to be able to help you out”
“Hi, my name is Aidan. I have been with JN Wine since 2017, having worked in the wine trade for 4 years prior to joining the retail team. I’m a local guy, growing up, and still living, less than 10 minutes from the shop. I very much enjoy looking for little unsung heroes when it comes to wine, be that producers, grape varieties or regions, and I have a soft spot for wines made organically and biodynamically, which I feel are better for the producer, the consumer and the environment on the whole. I am also the main WSET educator at JN Wine, regularly conducting Level 1 and 2 courses for trade customers and hopefully to a few of our retail customers in the near future. I have gained a reputation (not unjustly) as a bit of a gourmand, so I am more than happy to chat about all things wine and food related. I look forward to talking to you.”
