Stored Credentials Transactions
Stored Credential transactions are items of information (including but not limiting to, an account number or payment token) to process future transactions.
Any transaction where the payment details (PAN or DPAN) are not provided by the cardholder but are fetched from the merchant’s system is considered a Stored Credential transaction. Cardholders will be notified when any changes are made to the terms of use regarding stored credentials or MIT transactions.
The rules apply to transactions where you store a card number or token for future purchases, or where you use stored information for future purchases.
These rules apply to:
o Merchants or their agents
o Payment Facilitators (PFs)
o Staged Digital Wallet Operators (SDWO)
There are two types of stored transactions:
Cardholder Initiated Transaction (CIT):
A Cardholder Initiated Transaction (CIT) is where the cardholder actively selects the card to use and completes the transaction using previously stored details.
Cardholder Initiated Transactions are limited to sale, pre-authorisation, and account verifications.
Merchant Initiated Transaction (MIT):
A Merchant Initiated Transaction (MIT) is where a transaction is submitted using previously stored detail without the cardholder's participation. For example, a recurring payment.
Where payment credentials are not provided by the cardholder and are fetched from the merchant’s system all MITs are considered Stored Credential Transactions and include the identifiers as defined by the Stored Credential mandate.
JNWine will initiate transactions without the active participation of the cardholder to:
o Perform a transaction as a follow-up to a cardholder-initiated transaction (CIT)
o Perform a pre-agreed standing instruction from the cardholder for the provision of goods or services.
Storing Credentials
When storing payment credentials for the first time, JNWine will establish an agreement of consent with the cardholder that contains all of the following:
o A truncated card number (for example, the last four digits)
o The expiry date of the agreement, if applicable
o Details of how JNWine will communicate any changes to the consent agreement to the cardholder
o Details of how we will use the stored card details
o Transaction amount, including taxes, fees and any other charges. If the exact amount is unavailable at the time the agreement is made, the agreement must contain an explanation of how the transaction amount will be calculated.
o For recurring payments (for example, wine club) the amount, and frequency will also be detailed.
