      Tasting Notes
      Sartarelli Brut Spumante NV 75cl

Sartarelli was one of the estates featured in a Decanter magazine article entitled 'Italys Rising Stars' in which great praise was heaped upon this fabulous Marches winery. You know where an estates heart lies when you realise that it only grows and makes wine from a single grape variety. There is no equivalent in Italy to Sartarelli where the estates motto might as well be Verdicchio or Bust. (Decanter magazine May 2013).

The sparkling wine is a new venture by the family and was described by the authors of the Decanter article as not unlike a good Prosecco in its charming upfront fruit and floral aromas and flavours. Crisp, dry and always elegant.

This sparkling wine entirely made from strictly selected Verdicchio grapes is produced by using the long Charmat method (5-6 months of refinement). Thanks to a prolonged period of refinement on the lees at the end of the fermentation process, its organoleptic characteristics are particularly noteworthy

It is of a brilliant straw yellow colour and has a bouquet of apple, fruit, lemon verbena, almond aromas and hints of yeasts. It has a fresh but not intrusive acidity, citrus fruit flavors, with a nice, fine persistent perlage.

"Sartarelli makes a surprise sparkling wine with the NV Brut. A pure expression of Verdicchio, this fresh bubbly is crisp and tonic with a sharp, almost biting sense of effervescence. Easy aromas of citrus, stone fruit and dried field flowers emerge from the glass. It drinks with the ease and informality of a Prosecco, yet it offers that unmistakable character of this great white grape from the Marche with its grassy and dried straw characteristics.
      88 Points."
(Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate, March 2016)

At one of the most important worldwide wine competitions, the International Wine Challenge in London, our Sartarelli Brut and Tralivio 2016 have both won the Bronze Medal.
