Ridge Vineyards

In 1962, Ridge made its first Monte Bello, and two years later its first Zinfandel. Since that time, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those rare and exceptional vineyards where climate, soil and variety are ideally matched.

Ridge call their approach to winemaking “pre-industrial.”

They believe that for anyone attempting to make fine wine, modern additives and industrial processing limit true quality.

Relying on the natural yeast, they let the terroir define the wine and make winemaking decisions based upon taste, not a recipe.

Believing in transparency they include a list of ingredients on every wine they make.

Committed to sustainability and organic farming, they are the largest grower of organically certified grapes in Sonoma County and the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation.

Critical Acclaim

For more than six decades, Ridge Vineyards has been recognised by top critics and peers for their consistent quality and steadfast approach to winemaking.

The Winemaking Team

Ridge Vineyards is proud to have a team of skilled winemakers who bring their passion and expertise to every wine they produce. With decades of experience and a deep love for the art of winemaking, their winemakers are dedicated to crafting exceptional wines.

John Olney joined Ridge in 1996 and worked in both the Monte Bello and Lytton Springs wineries before becoming Head Winemaker & COO in 2021. Trester Goetting and Shauna Rosenblum bring a wealth of experience to Ridge with their extensive backgrounds in crafting mountain Cabernet and single-vineyard Zinfandel wines.

Responsible Winegrowing

Sustainability is both a philosophy and a set of environmentally responsible practices designed to safeguard the land on which Ridge grow their grapes. It seeks to conserve and renew natural resources, protect wildlife habitats, and ensure the safety and economic security of their employees.
