      Tasting Notes and Description
Because of the vineyard’s altitude and limestone-rich clay, this Mâcon-Bussières shows a harmonious mineral-driven acidity. Aromatic, with notes of ripe, yellow stone fruits, this wine delivers a supple mouthfeel due to 9 months of lees aging.

Located in Milly-Lamartine, the home village of the great poet Alphonse de LAMARTINE (1790-1869), Domaine de la Rochette comprises 8 hectares planted partly on the steep slopes of Mont Sard in Bussières, and cultivated without herbicides or insecticides. Shallow, well-drained, stony white limestone soils, covered with a thin layer of brown clay. Not surprisingly, this exceptional terroir of thin limestone produces top-class white Burgundies.

Chardonnay vines planted on white, stony limestone soils between 300-400m altitude. Vines dating back to 1930s.

Wine is aged for 9 months on fine lees in demi-muids followed by a few months in vats. Can be enjoyed on release or after 3+ years ageing.

"A discreet application of wood sets off cool and pure aromas of green apple, lemon-lime and a touch of white peach. The rich, round and supple medium weight flavors possess a seductive texture and while the sneaky long finish is refreshing, it’s not quite as dry or crisp as that of the Montagne de Cra."

"Palate well-balanced, lovely slightly honeyed... Revealing hidden depths as it opens with aeration. Very fine."
