Huge intensity on the nose with a big complexity and elegance in the aromatic core,mineral red & black fruit showing up, incense notes. All this goes together with the fine wood notes from the French oak, as vanilla, cedar, mild tobacco and spices. In the initial phase in the mouth, it shows an excellent smoothness and volume, developing a delicate tannic structure which makes it tasty and savoury. The freshness from the Graciano makes it more balanced concerning the alcohol, showing a very long aftertaste and a pleasant final. The aftertaste comes with spicy, fruity and wood notes.

Finca Valpiedra follows the classic Bordeaux style, with a single vineyard and three wines made exclusively with grapes from the Estate: Finca Valpiedra, our main reference is built upon 92% Tempranillo, 4% Graciano and 4% red Maturana.

Opened in 1999, it is the only Rioja winery that belongs the Asociación Grandes Pagos de España (Grand Crus Association of Spain), an exclusive and small group of wineries from all over the national territory of Spain with single vineyards and of their own personality defends the authentic terroirs of the country.

"The nose of the 2016 Finca Valpiedra Reserva has notes of traditional Rioja with a more modern twist and is clean, expressive and nuanced, with some toasty notes, black fruit, herbs and spices. It was produced with a blend of 93% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 3% Maturana Tinta with a moderate 13% alcohol and very good freshness giving it a medium-bodied palate and a fine-boned mouthfeel. It matured in new and used French barriques for 24 months. 75,000 bottles produced. It should develop nicely in bottle. It was bottled in October 2019 and is still young and lively. Drink to 2030."

"A pretty complex nose filled with blueberries and cranberries followed by some baking spices, mineral, undergrowth, dark walnuts and dried flowers. Crunchy, medium- to full-bodied and bright on the palate with excellent acidity that gives it a nicely tart-berry character and mouthwatering quality. Sappy, tight and well-framed with a lengthy finish. Delicious now, but can keep holding."
