Domaine de la Monette

With a rich history dating back centuries, Domaine de la Monette has flourished under the stewardship of young Burgundian winemaker Pierre-Etienne Chevallier and his wife Lise since 2022, expanding to 12.5 hectares across Mercurey, Givry, Rully, and Bouzeron.

With a firm commitment to organic viticulture and a focus on estate-grown fruit, their wines stand out for their clarity, vibrancy, and faithful expression of the Côte Chalonnaise’s diverse terroirs.

Mercurey ‘Vieilles Vignes’ 2023: 100% Pinot Noir from vines with an average age of 60 years old. A pleasant, supple and pure fruited wine. Seductive with its aromas of fresh red fruits and delicate tannins.

Givry ‘La Feusse’ 2023: 100% Pinot Noir. A newcomer to the domaine, this Givry plot is located at the bottom of the hillside on deep, clayey soils, and produces a very structured and deeply concentrated wine giving it great aging potential. Suited today to spicy dishes and red meats, it is also a wine to forget in your cellar and keep for special occasions.

Mercurey ‘Les Obus’ 2023: 100% Chardonnay. Growing on white clay soil, this plot produces white wines of great breadth and depth. ‘Les Obus’ is a voluptuous Mercurey, very seductive for its power and length on the palate. A wine for laying down and fine dining, it pairs perfectly with strong, spicy dishes (curried shrimp!), as well as white meats or fish in sauce.

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023: 100% Chardonnay. A Bourgogne aged on lees, typical of its kind, with notes of white flowers and citrus, enhanced by a light toastiness. An amazing value in white Burgundy!

Bouzeron ‘Les Fias’ 2023: The capital of Aligoté, Bouzeron is where the best Aligoté is made. The ‘Les Fias’ area is located on a very chalky hillside, at altitude, facing due east, and produces taut, very saline wines, rounded out by ageing. It is a fresh wine, perfect for aperitifs and seafood.

In the press: The 2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay and Bouzeron ‘Les Fais’ wines were tipped as ‘very good value’ and ‘good value’ favourites respectively by Jancis Robinson MW earlier in 2025.
