DAOU

The Daou Vineyards and Winery are situated in a breathtaking setting among the hills of the Adelaida district in San Luis Obispo county, to the western portion of Paso Robles. This Paso winery is owned and operated by the Daou family. Lebanon-born, Georges and Daniel Daou purchased the then-named Hoffman Mountain Ranch vineyard (once consulted by legendary enologist André Tchelistcheff, in the early 60s) in 2007, and have taken the winery from strength-to-strength ever since.

Daou winery primarily focuses on supreme Cabernet Sauvignon wines - a range of single varietal wines as well as Bordeaux blends. They farm Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, among others.

These grapes benefit from the unrivaled terroir of the 'Daou mountain', a stunning promontory at an elevation of over 2,000 feet in the Adelaida district of California, allowing for optimum exposition, drainage and ultimately ripeness in the grapes, all the while retaining acidity and freshness.

DAOU Estate Soul of a Lion 2019

The 2019 Soul of a Lion is a blockbuster vintage that showcases how Bordeaux varieties are remarkably suited to the terroir of DAOU Mountain. While full-bodied with ultra-high phenolic levels, this wine maintains its evenness and poise through an extraordinarily long finish. Structured, balanced and powerful, the 2019 Soul of a Lion will reveal its full magnitude after several years of careful cellaring.

"The 2019 Soul Of A Lion is a blend of free-run Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Cabernet Franc (14%), and Petit Verdot (9%), aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque ruby in color, it offers aromatic contrast between dark, savory cherry fruit, chargrill and graphite, and top notes of green pepper and rose petals. The palate explodes with detailed flavors and its tannins are already resolved and chocolaty, with seamless acidity and exotic spicy layers emerging on the extended finish. Wow! Drink to 2042."
