Classic aromas of Oregon blackberry, Zante currant and cherry pipe tobacco anticipate subtle notes of cranberry, baking spice, liquorice, slate and dark chocolate. The palate is voluptuous and velvety with a firm underlying structure. Lavish flavours of blueberry, black raspberry, wild cherry and cassis are beautifully integrated with hints of truffle, dried herbs and forest floor. A smooth, persistent finish lingers with impressions of sweet cherry, black plum and mushroom. While polished and approachable now, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon that will continue to evolve with grace and nuance.

The Daou Vineyards and Winery are situated in a breathtaking setting among the hills of the Adelaida district in San Luis Obispo County, to the western portion of Paso Robles.

This Paso winery is owned and operated by the Daou family. Lebanon born Georges and Daniel Daou purchased the then named Hoffman Mountain Ranch vineyard (once consulted by legendary enologist André Tchelistcheff, in the early 60s) in 2007, and have taken the winery from strength-to-strength ever since.

Daou winery primarily focuses on supreme Cabernet Sauvignon wines - a range of single varietal wines as well as Bordeaux blends. They farm Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay among others.

These grapes benefit from the unrivalled terroir of the 'Daou mountain', a stunning promontory at an elevation of over 2,000 feet in the Adelaida district of California, allowing for optimum exposition, drainage and ultimately ripeness in the grapes, all the while retaining acidity and freshness.

"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, made entirely with free-run juice, is blended with 23% Petit Verdot, 1% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc and was matured for 16 months in 50% new French oak. Deep ruby-purple, it offers savory aromas of black cherries, charcuterie, cedar, mushroom, tobacco, dried herbs and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and fresh with savory fruits and a mineral-driven finish. Drink 2023 - 2028.
