Bouvet Ladubay

We are proud that our JN Sparkling offerings are made especially for us by Bouvet Ladubay! The second oldest producer of sparkling wine in Saumur.

Since 1851, Bouvet Ladubay has been synonymous with craftsmanship, tradition, and elegance in the Loire Valley. Based in Saumur, a region celebrated for its distinctive limestone terroir, Bouvet Ladubay has earned international recognition for its refined Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wines—crafted with care, precision, and an enduring commitment to excellence.

The story of Bouvet Ladubay began when Étienne Bouvet, a visionary entrepreneur, acquired miles of underground tuffeau stone galleries to house his wine cellars. These ancient limestone caves, originally carved by hand, offered the perfect environment for maturing sparkling wines.

Étienne’s ambition was not only to create exceptional wines but to build a legacy rooted in artistry, architecture, and respect for tradition.

Over 170 years later, that vision continues to guide the winery’s philosophy.

Bouvet Ladubay’s sparkling wines are crafted using the traditional method, the same time-honoured process used in Champagne.

Grapes such as Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc are sourced from carefully selected vineyards throughout the Loire Valley. From gentle pressing to long aging on lees, each stage of the process is overseen by a dedicated team of winemakers who balance innovation with respect for tradition.

The result is a portfolio of wines that are elegant, expressive, and consistently awarded for their quality and value.

What sets Bouvet Ladubay apart is not only the quality of its wines but also its commitment to cultural enrichment. The house has long supported the arts, offering a platform for visual artists, musicians, and performers. This intersection of wine and culture reflects the belief that both disciplines share a common foundation: creativity, patience, and an appreciation for beauty.

From the crisp and lively Bouvet Brut to the more complex and age-worthy Saphir and Trésor cuvées, each wine in the Bouvet Ladubay collection tells a story of heritage, precision, and passion. With every bottle, the house continues its legacy of excellence, honouring its past while looking confidently to the future.
