      Tasting Notes and Description
The legendary minerality and saline character of Casse-Têtes is expressed with panache in the Meursault Saint Christophe 2023. The mouth is full and broad with buttery notes and remarkable length. The patience of a few years of aging will be greatly rewarded.

      The appellation:
The Meursault “Saint-Christophe” brings together two Climats: “Les Casse-Têtes” and “Les Petits Charrons”, both recognized for their exceptional quality and remarkably located in the middle of the Meursault hillside also called “Montagne Saint-Christophe”. The result is a balanced wine which beautifully complements the generous character of the “Petits-Charrons” with the minerality of the “Casse-Tetes”.

      Wine and style:
After a light settling, the musts are put into barrels mainly of 600 liters and also of 228 L where the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place. 20% new barrels with wood coming mainly from Allier, in long and light toasting. The first racking takes place after about a year of aging in wood to then begin the second phase (4 to 6 months) in stainless steel vats in order to maintain freshness and tension in the wine.

      Vine cultivation:
The estate has been practicing organic viticulture since 1995. Since 2005, biodynamics has complemented these practices that respect the soil and life. The wines are Ecocert certified.

"Lift and spice on the nose, with much more marked acidity than the Casse-Têtes. Not sure it's more appealing but it will probably have a longer life. Drink 2027-2037."

Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com (January 2025)

“The 2023 Meursault St. Christophe has a lively bouquet with light sea spray scents and a touch of struck flint. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening. A little lower in acidity compared to the Puligny, it's nonetheless harmonious with a judiciously spiced finish. This is one of de Montille’s ‘dark horses’.”
      90-92 points.
