      Tasting Notes and Description
This old vine Chenin Blanc is a blend of Reyneke's oldest vineyards, planted in 1974 and 1976. The grapes were hand harvested and cooled overnight before undergoing spontaneous fermentation in 2500L foudré and 500L amphora. The wine was aged on the lees in these vessels for ten months, with the first SO? addition made only after racking, prior to bottling.

"It's with immense pride that we celebrate our Winemaker, Barbara Melck, who has been named Best Overall Winemaker at the Winemag.co.za Next Generation Awards 2025. This prestigious honour is a true testament to her exceptional skill and the passion she pours into every single vintage, making this a truly momentous occasion for her and for Reyneke Wines."

"Now fermented and aged in foudres and 500-litre amphoras, this is a typically refined Reyneke white that speaks of the granite soils of the Polkadraai Hills. White pepper, hay and petrichor aromas lead you gently into a palate of citrus, lemongrass and quince complemented by a nip of tannin."

Tim Atkin MW, SA Report (September 2025)

"The biodynamic Reyneke 2024 Polkadraai Hills Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc comes from a Heritage Vineyard planted in 1976, with rows facing the sea along a ridge line. Whole-bunch pressed and naturally settled without heavy lees work, the wine ferments and ages for nine months in a mix of foudre, barrel and 20% Italian clay amphorae. It is expressive yet precise, showing quince, white stone fruit and a gentle honeyed note carried by vibrant acidity and mineral lift. Cooling ocean breezes across the Polkadraai Hills help preserve the wine’s electricity and purity. Drink to 2035."

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (February 2026)

"The 2024 Chenin Blanc comes from vines planted in 1974 and 1976. It was aged on the lees for ten months. This is a very pure expression of the variety, quite understated relative to others, pithy pear and light candle wax notes emerging with time. The palate is bright and fresh with a keen line of acidity. You would be hard-pressed to find another Cape Chenin as elegant as this. There's a tingle of lemongrass right on the finish. Superb, but one for those who seek subtlety in their Chenins. Drink to 2038."
