      Tasting Notes and Description
      Magnum bottling

Expressive nose of ripe fruits complimented by soft woody tones and hints of violet. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a perfect balance of ripe fruit, well-formed tannins and a refreshing finish.

The Château itself wasn't built until around 1500, and it was bought by the Baudet family in 1894. Since then, five generations of the family have put their heart and soul into tending the 18 hectares of vines at this Château in the Côtes de Blaye, a region which borders Bourg at the northernmost part of Bordeaux's right bank.

The Vineyards are situated on one of the best sites on the limestone escarpment of the Blaye - the hill above the village of Plassac. Clay/limestone soils give excellent drainage to vines and allow them to fully develop. The slopes face south-west and this ensures optimal ripening conditions for the grapes.

The first vineyard in Blaye to be independently audited and certified under the TERRA VITIS regime for sustainable viticulture. No chemicals - organic fertilisers only, treatments based on observation, encouragement of biodiversity and inter-row vegetation. Bud pruning, green harvesting and de-leafing for optimal fruit/leaf canopy balance where appropriate. Harvesting at optimal ripeness.

Assemblage; Merlot (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Malbec (10%)

Beautiful alongside duck breast with fresh seasonal vegetables.

"Ripe berries and acidity in a balanced combination give this wine a juicy freshness. It has a rich potential - full berry flavors and dark fruits. Drink from 2024."

Roger Voss, The Wine Enthusiast (December 2022)

"Inky dark purple core and hue. Pure and intense nose displaying violet, blackberry, cassis, fine spice and sage. The palate is dense and vigorous with conentrated young fruit, ripe tannin a fresh backbone and fine oak derived spiciness, well built with fine purity and persistency. Nicely done!"
