John Vickery is the acknowledged old master of Riesling in Australia, with an illustrious career spanning over fifty years, culminating in the extraordinary awards tally of more than fifty trophies and over four hundred gold medals.

The Rieslings he crafted from Watervale (in the Clare Valley) and Eden Valley (in the Barossa) stand tall as the epitome of this most majestic grape variety, each with a unique South Australian and sub-regional thumbprint. "The 2023 Eden Valley Riesling is bright, fresh, floral and chalky in texture. It hasn't yet had the opportunity to develop any bottle-derived complexity, instead offering a refreshing, mineral drinking experience. Drink it now or wait a decade. It will offer substantially more complexity and enjoyment in 2035, but that may be a big ask. Over to you. It's a lovely wine either way. 11.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink to 2045."
