Felton Road farms four properties totalling 32 ha in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. Block 5 is situated on a gentle north facing slope in the heart of The Elms vineyard and was planted in 1993.

James Suckling, famed Australian wine writer entices us further; "If Central Otago was the Côte de Nuits, then Bannockburn would likely be Vosne-Romanée and I'm going to hang it right out and say that Felton Road would be the top gun, the DRC."

The grapes were gently destemmed into open fermenters with around 21% whole clusters. Long pre-fermentation soak prior to fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine spent 13 months in French oak barrels (22% new) with two rackings and no fining or filtration.

"Floral and perfumed aromas of raspberries, rhubarb, rose petals, lead pencil and dark cherries. The palate has seamless tannins with an underlying power and pure acidity, yielding a tightly wound wine that will unravel in years to come. Made from 30-year-old, biodynamically grown vines. Exceptionally balanced and poised. Drink or hold. Screw cap."
