Sybille Kuntz Riesling Kabinett 2022, 75cl

"Kabinett" is the basic wine in the superior quality wine category (Qualitätswein mit Prädikat) defined by the German Wine Law. It is gained mainly from old vines grown in the steep vineyards of Pauls Valley, a side valley formed by the River Mosel some thirty five thousand years ago. Today it is part of the single vineyard site Lieser Schlossberg. Picking is done a little later than the Qualitätswein. A dry, aromatic and elegant wine. The Estate has been practising organic since 1990 and is since 2013 Eco certified by the independent control agency GfRS. Simultaneously the transition began to a complete biodynamic cultivation of the vineyards. This was certified by Demeter in 2016, the highest level of natural viticulture for grapes and vineyards. The Vintage 2022, after the wet season of 2021, was a very special vintage on the Mosel. Fortunately, the Riesling vines survived the intense heat throughout the summer. The September rains ensured in the last moment a balanced, harmonious 2022 vintage with moderate alcohol levels and rather gentle acidities. All this results into expressive, biodynamic Riesling wines with appealing aromas and elegant fruity character. Since the vintage 2011 they have colour coded their 6 quality categories according to ripeness level and taste profile after the "Colours of Nature". The natural ripeness development of the Riesling berries is communicated through the colours of the labels. "Pale greenish gold. Intense hazelnuts on the nose. Real richness on the front palate with some lemon flavours and a hint of soapiness. At the moment it's a very youthful sweet-and-sour mix without those two elements being integrated. Wait!
