Enchanting nose of crunchy apple, greengage plum and honeysuckle. The palate reveals a fresh and harmonious body interspersed with notes of white tea and pepper.

The appellation:
This Puligny-Montrachet comes three quarters from a 1.1 ha plot located in the AOC Puligny 1er cru “Les Chalumeaux” which was downgraded during its replanting in 1975 by the INAO because the former owner had brought around twenty cm of exogenous soil, which is prescribed by the specifications. Since then, both erosion and the organic cultivation practised by the estate have plunged the roots towards the original terroir which gives this Puligny-Montrachet an unusual density and complexity for an AOC village which places it halfway between a very good AOC village and a 1er Cru. It is the only vine in AOC Puligny-Montrachet to be in the middle of hillsides, in the middle of the 1er Crus. The other two plots are “Les Levrons” and “Boudrières – Nosroyes” for 0.38 ha.

Wine and style:
After a light settling, the musts are put into barrels mainly of 600 liters and also of 228 L where the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place. 15% new barrels with wood coming mainly from Allier, in long and light toasting. The first racking takes place after about a year of aging in wood to then begin the second phase (4 to 6 months) in stainless steel vats in order to maintain freshness and tension in the wine.

Vine cultivation:
The estate has been practicing organic viticulture since 1995. Since 2005, biodynamics has complemented these practices that respect the soil and life. The wines are Ecocert certified.

"Brian uses fewer lees in Puligny than Meursault, he tells me. To emphasise florality rather than body, perhaps? Pale lemon colour. The nose is refreshing, floral, herbal and slightly limey, with a pure line of fruit flowing through to the back of the palate. Super intensity., and a clean long finish. Drink 2026 - 2032."
