    Roc des Anges L'Oca 2021 75cl

    Product Information

L'Oca means 'the goose' in Catalan, in reference to the vineyard's shape. It’s our only white vineyard with red clay. And with the clay, we immediately get reduction. It's not a huge reduction, more like a discreet touch of eyeliner. And the clay also adds weight to the attack on the palate. Assemblage: 100% Macabeu - Planted in 1957. Oca demonstrates once again the incredible quality of these old Maccabeu wines. "Madly energetic, this wine of great salinity perfectly combines bitterness and a sharp profile, with great precision and length." "Another extraordinary wine from this high-class estate. From vines planted only in 2017 it has the pedigree and class of a wine from vines 50 years old or more. Incredibly smoky and flinty this a wine that really expresses its place. Marjorie says that Macabeu is the perfect expression of terroir and it is not that aromatic. It seems to love the clayey soils too which brings added weight to the mineral dominance. Definitely some flintiness on the finish which may suggest there is some silex in there too. A beautiful, precise wine. 2023-2032." 95 points. Matthew Stubbs MW, Tim Atkin MW Languedoc-Roussillon Report 2023 (September 2023)
