This White Port has a beautiful golden colour, fresh and intense nose with nuts and delicate mint. On the palate this wine is vibrant, fresh and complex with a long aftertaste.
Jorge Serôdio Borges is the 5th generation of a long line of wine producers and winery owners. Therefore, in 2009 Sandra and Jorge acquired “Quinta da Manoella”, an estate with a history that dates back to 1838.
The Quinta da Manoella vineyards are over a hundred years old, bordered on both sides by young vineyards that are 30 years old, some even more recent. Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas was immediately recognized as one of the greatest wines of Douro.
Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges began their adventure in 2001. In the beginning, the young couple had no vineyards and no wine, but they shared a dream, a personal project to which they have devoted themselves body and soul.
The name Wine & Soul is the product of their passion and total commitment to wine. From the start, this company’s work has focused on a tireless search for exceptional vines in the Pinhão Valley – the historic heart of great Port wines – to give them a voice.
Wine & Soul embodies the spirit of a new wave of top quality Douro Wines, sourced from very old vineyards, low yields, limited production showcase the character of each particular vineyard and the very special nature of each unique terroir. Wines crafted with minimum intervention, letting nature and terroir take the lead and speak for themselves.
"Full bottle 1,346 g. Estate in the Vale do Pinhão. A field blend at high elevation of Viosinho, Rabigato, Códega do Larinho and Gouveio. The fermentation occurred in granite lagares with foot treading and after that was matured and aged in seasoned old casks of 630 litres for approximately 10 years at Quinta da Manoella Lodge. pH 3.4, RS 40 g/l. Beautiful coppery gold colour and a fabulously intense and complex aroma of dried fruits, bitter orange and fresh nuts, hay. On the palate, full of lively energy and freshness, bitter orange tang, and just the right amount of firm tannin on the end, which increases the freshness to balance the sweetness. This is stunning. Not too sweet because the acidity and the texture bring harmony to the fruit and because it is in the Extra Dry style. The finish tastes almost dry. Brilliant winemaking with what must have been great fruit. Elegant and so much more complex than any 10 Year Old white port I have tasted. Drink to 2030."

"The mostly dry (for a Port) NV 10 Years Old Extra Dry White Port Manoella was bottled with only 30 grams per liter of residual sugar. This has a nuttier nose, with a more oxidative side, perhaps saltier and tastier, with more umami, subtle notes of candied orange and has the elegance of white Ports. Clean, precise and long. Drink to 2030."

"Honeysuckle, gingerbread, nutmeg, cloves, sweet papayas and sultanas. Off-sweet on the palate with notes of anise seed, absinthe and bitter herbs. Unctuous and pretty dry in the finish. Drink now."
