      Tasting Notes and Description
his ‘new’ wine label complements now the ‘roches’ series. As its name indicates it, all the vineyards are located on the poor granitic soils of the Brand hillside. It is in fact the second wine of the Grand Cru Brand. Zind Humbrecht estate cultivates 2.4 ha of Riesling on the Grand Cru Brand and only the oldest vines are claimed as Grand Cru Brand. All the others are declassified into this cuvée which therefore finds its origin on a granite, draining, hot and precocious soil. Without having the signature of Grand Cru wines, we nevertheless find all the characteristics specific to this type of soil. Namely a certain maturity and richness, an expression of fruit and a young open wine, a ripe and less aggressive acidity, a fine minerality.

Indice: 1 - Light gold colour. The nose is still slightly closed at this very early stage, it develops quickly with some aeration some classic citrussy and light fruit aromas. It shows also a great concentration and nice mineral sensation that is immediately confirmed on the palate. The mouth is generous, broad and velvety. It brings a nice well-being sensation before tightening on the finish that feels quite dry. The acidity feels ripe and saline and brings an excellent support to the wine.

Food pairing: A perfect white with all seafood, either simply prepared or with complex sauces.

"So effusive and vibrant, yet also blessed with great aromatic charm, this has a stunning combination of pineapple juiciness and smoky character. Then comes the very long, precise finish that’s so stony. From biodynamically grown grapes."

"From predominantly younger, 20+-year-old vines in the Grand Cru Brand, the 2020 Riesling Roche Granitique shows an intense yellow color and a beautifully intense, complex and aromatic yet pure nose with perfectly ripe tropical fruit aromas intertwined with delicate and saline granite notes. On the palate, this is a rich and intense, almost Traminer-like Riesling with lush and intense, powerful fruit and big complexity. The power is richness balanced by great mineral acidity and fine tannin grip that makes this an impressive wine at this price point. Bottled bone dry with 13.9% stated alcohol in January this year. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022. Drink to 2050.
