      Tasting Notes and Description
THE REYNEKE VINEYARDS are herbicide, pesticide and fungicide free. Just like any organic vineyard should be.

Instead of spraying weeds with poison, we carefully select and grow companion plants amongst our vines to outcompete the weeds. These companion plants have the ability to fix nitrogen from the atmosphere, help break up compacted soil or even harbour a beneficial insect or two.

While all sorts of poisons are usually used to combat pests, we simply release their natural predators, like ducks – there’s nothing more delicious for a duck than a good, juicy snail.

No poison leaching into the grapes. No expensive fertiliser because the ducks do that for us. Everyone’s happy.

The earlier harvested Sauvignon blanc grapes are de-stemmed before being pressed. Later pickings are in turn whole bunch pressed, before the must cold settles overnight in stainless steel tanks without any pectolytic enzyme additions. The juice is racked into well-seasoned French barrique, in which natural fermentation occurs. The wine is aged for seven months on the gross lees, in barrel, without any sulphur additions, before being racked from barrel, sulphured and prepared for bottling in October of the same year of harvest

This vibrant Sauvignon Blanc bursts with notes of grapefruit, passion fruit and displays a distinct fintiness. The palate shows a lovely brightness and de?nite minerality, which reveals more complexity in time. The palate shows a lovely brightness, firm acidity and definite flinty notes, unique to the Reyneke site. The wine reveals multiple layers as it opens up, with rich undertones and great complexity and a long lingering finish. A harmonious wine in all senses showing what the Reyneke Sauvignon Blanc sites can produce.

"Certified Ceres organic and certified biodynamic.
Very rich nose. Smells of passion-fruit curd and crushed buttery digestive-biscuit tart base. Flint and glass and lime and spice on the palate. Serious, focused, intellectual Sauvignon. A touch of sweet green pepper, like a Cubanelle; a touch of lavender-and-lemon soap. Fragrant, gauzy top notes floating over a taut wire of stones and citrus pulled over cold, wet mountain stones. And then green pineapple and lime bonbon over cooked cream and mango coulis. I'd be interested in seeing how it ages… GV. Drink 2021 - 2024."
