      Tasting Notes and Description
Tyler is dedicated to producing wines of delicacy and balance, where structure and nuance are favored above all else. Our focus is exclusively on exceptional vineyard sites throughout the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley within Santa Barbara County, and feel pinot noir and chardonnay are the best mediums to express each vineyard site. Within these two appellations, the unique combination of marine-based soils, transverse ranges and valleys, and cool ocean influence make this a truly wonderful place for growing pinot noir and chardonnay.

We believe wine should be elegant and honest, and must possess aromatic purity.

Justin Willett made some of the most memorable wines of the 2015 vintage. His Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are exceptional. It's hard to know where to start with this range, as quality is so high across the board. The appellation wines will give readers a very good introduction to these wines. As always, Willett's style is one of grace and understatement. Even in a freakish vintage like 2015, the personality of each site in the range is beautifully delineated.

From the eastern edge of the Bien Nacido property, here the vines grown in the most shale laden gravel soils. These well drained, mineral soils along with the fact that the vines are planted on their own roots back in 1973 always produce the most powerful chardonnay.

It's chalky with a mineral core, notes of black tea and curry. W-Block shows excellent palate weight, texture and bright acidity giving it a long, juicy finish that will only get better with age.

"The 2016 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is lovely, wafting from the glass with a beautiful bouquet of pear, citrus zest and almond cream. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, pure and succulent, with nice mid-palate amplitude, a juicy core of fruit and tangy acids. The finish is mouthwatering and delicately chalky. This is an attractively pure, transparent rendition of Sanford & Benedict Chardonnay. Drink 2019-2029.
      94 Points."
