      Tasting Notes and Description
A deep and brooding Pinot Noir.

The palate and aromas are beautifully intertwined - dark cocoa nibs, freshly roasted coffee beans, black cranberries and ripe cherries with a hint of pink peppercorns and campfire smoke. These elements come together in a brilliantly bold Pinot, atypical of Nelson.

Fine tannins frame this wine as it moves through the palate. This chalky note keeps the rather voluptuous flavour profile in check and gives the wine an elegant mouthfeel.

This deserves a great cut of meat thrown on a seriously hot BBQ. Open a couple of hours early or decant to enjoy at its best.
      Cellar with absolute confidence.

"Matured in 100% French oak, of which 20% was new, for 10 months. Blood plums, rhubarb stems and sumac spice. Dried maple leaf, cumin and steeped raspberry tea. Granular tannins sit upfront with layers of stringy bark, cassia and walnut skin. A refined wine with multi-faceted texture and memorable tannins and frame. This is built for earthy root vegetables and lean meats. It's savoury and filled with umami and foraged things from the woods. Gathered wild red fruits and a touch of galangal root bitters. A wine for thoughtful consideration and firelight."

Shanteh Wale (James Halliday's Wine Companion)

"The echo of place and time, soil and tradition are instantly recognisable with this fine example. Aromas of red apple skin and cherry, wild flowers and red berries, a touch of earth smoke then gentle spice of oak deliver complexity and charm without compromising variety and delicacy. Dry, taut, textured and delicious, a wine that needs time to open and develop in glass showcasing fine chalky tannins, lees a nd spice qualities, mid palate core of fruit and a complex, yet youthful finish. A wine for the cellar with best window for drinking likely from 2027 through 2037."
