      Tasting Notes and Description
The colour is dense. The lightly oaked nose is very expressive and presents good aromatic intensity. The aromas of black fruit and Morello cherry combine with spices and more toasty, bready notes of vanilla and coffee. The attack is clean, powerful, and fresh. The opulent and generous mid-palate reveals notes of ripe fruit and tannins of great finesse. The aromatic finish is well balanced.
      An exceptional year for Tronquoy-Lalande!

      2016 assemblage: Merlot : 58%, Cabernet Sauvignon : 34%, Petit Verdot : 6 %, Cabernet Franc : 2%

Four different grape varieties are used to make the premium red wine, Château Tronquoy-Lalande: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Each one has a particular role to play, enhancing the others and bringing roundness or density, aroma and flavour or length.

Well-integrated tannins and a certain spiciness are typical features of the blend, together with the trademark tobacco, resin, blackcurrant and liquorice aromas which give the wine its distinctive personality.

"Tasted blind. Ripe and concentrated. Pretty inky tannins and very modern, bright, concentrated fruit. Very appealing even if not that classical. Drink 2025 - 2042."
      17.5 points.
Jancis Robinson, JR Purple Pages (January 2020)

"The 2016 Tronquoy-Lalande is a brilliant wine. Wafting from the glass with scents of cassis, dark berries, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a deep and multidimensional core, lively acids and beautifully ripe tannins. Suave and elegant, this young, impeccably balanced classic will delight Médoc purists, but it is far from austere today and will offer a remarkably broad drinking window. Drink to 2046."
