A wine of great varietal purity. This 100% Garnacha has a sweet and youthful nose with an intense cherry aroma and great clarity. In the mouth it is broad and long, in addition to providing freshness and a wide range of flavours.

A 3.5 hectare vineyard located in the Sierra Santa Cruz on quartzite soils from vines planted in 1955. The vines have very low yields. The vineyard has a convex relief, formed by 2 opposite hills and a central valley.

Bernal Mountains. La Sierra area. Báguena (Teruel). Colluvium ferric clay soil with a lot of bedrock on the surface. Shallow and stony soil. Vineyard planted in 1955. The grapes were partially destemmed and fermented with light cap management. A long maceration of 27 days without temperature control. Aged in 400 litre barrels for 10 months.

"A single-vineyard Garnacha from a plot planted in 1955, the 2021 Rubus La Viña de Báguena fermented with 30% full clusters and indigenous yeasts with a six-week maceration and a gentle extraction. It matured in used 400- and 500-liter French oak barrels for eight months. It has lower alcohol and ripeness than the 2019 I tasted the last time, but it still has 14.2% alcohol. The wine comes through as balanced and harmonious, elegant and floral, and the alcohol is well disguised and balanced by the freshness and acidity. It comes through as tasty and fine-boned, very tasty and long. Great wine! 1,832 bottles were filled in August 2022."
