Viña Bujanda owns 120 ha of vineyards with a variety of soil structures in different plots in the sub-areas of Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. The vineyards range between 20 and 60 years of age. The Gran Reserva is produced only in very good vintages and benefits from a longer ageing regime than Crianzas or Reservas.

Viña Bujanda Gran Reserva, made of 100% Tempranillo, comes from Rioja Alta and Alavesa areas. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 162 days and aged in oak for 24 months before it is ready to enjoy. The resulting wine shows intense complexity and great aging potential.

Intense cherry colour with blue rim, Bright and crystalline. Elegant and complex with hints of woodwork, vanilla, cigar-box and spices. Recall of blackberry, plums in liqueur. Intense with a big volume developing on the palate, showing a big freshness and elegance. Well-balanced acidity with the alcohol. Rounded and rich. Long finish.

Drink it over the next 5 plus years with pork or roast lamb or medium and well matured cheeses, also strong and powerful stews.

"The subtle and serious 2015 Gran Reserva is spicy and elegant. It matured in French and American oak barrels for two years, which gave it some textbook traditional notes of coconut and vanilla intermixed with notions of cocoa, cedarwood, cigar ash and cigar box. It's polished and sleek, with moderate ripeness and alcohol at 13.5% and with good freshness showcased by a pH of 3.47 and close to six grams of acidity. Back to classicism."
