Felton Road Bannockburn Pinot Noir is their signature wine if you will. It is a blend of their 3 vineyards and all the different clones, soil types and vine ages they comprise which goes to create a complex, expressive and multi-layered wine. All vineyards certified biodynamic, the focus of which is to create incredibly healthy vineyards by treating them as a living ecosystem rather than a piece of land to be farmed in a prescribed way.
The signature style of Central Otago Pinot Noir is very much in evidence in these wines. The fruit flavours tend towards the dark cherry rather than strawberry/raspberry end of the spectrum and the colour is deep. The large daily temperature swings from hot in the middle of the day to very cool in the evenings is the key to forging Central Otago identity. The Felton Road team are masters at bringing out the natural beauty of the fruit by treating it as gently as possible whilst still extracting maximum flavour and structure. The reds are unfined and unfiltered and bottled under screwcap to ensure the wine ages beautifully and doesn’t suffer cork taint.
