BODEGAS ARTADI
In our opinion Artadi’s wines are among the best currently available from Spain. The winemaking is modern and precise, allowing the quality of the fruit to shine through, yet never at the expense of finesse and complexity. Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle is a good friend of JN Wine and a frequent visitor to these shores where his wines now have a loyal fan-base. 2010 was a vintage of variable weather conditions. Springtime was warm and sunny but in summer the temperatures did not really rise and rainfall was also below expectations. The result was a long, slow ripening season with high sugar levels, high tannins and lower levels of acidity. Consequently the resulting wines are structurally excellent with good definition and weight on the mid-palate, yet with a particularly lovely purity of fruit. We expect them to be ready to drink before the mighty 2009s.
