Forrest Heart Of Stone Sauvignon 2014

  • N/A

  • N/A
Pack of 12 x 750 ml Bottle Produced by renowned NZ winery Forrest Estate, this is consistently one of JN's most popular Sauvignons. The Forrest family family has farmed for generations, but it was not until 1988 that Drs John and Brigid Forrest beagn winemaking. Their hands-on operation, blending art and science to produce wines of high quality and purity, has given Forrest an enviable international reputation witnessed by numerous awards.
Heart of Stone is sourced from grapes grown in several distinctly different sites within Marlborough in an area where the vines struggle for survival in ancient riverbed stones and gravel. The resultant crop amounts to only a handful of intensely flavoured grapes per vine. This is a vibrant wine with flavours of blackberry, gooseberry and passionfruit underscored by appetising, crisp acidity which produces a refreshing finish. It will partner white fish and salads to perfection.

Villa Wolf Pinot Noir 2013 Pk6

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle This was our first German Pinot Noir and its formidable success was in no small part down its provenance - it comes from the JL Wolf estate in Pfalz, which benefits from the steady, knowledgeable and quality-driven direction of Ernst Loosen. This has been a JN success story with customers returning for more after they experience the quality of this Pinot. The wine shows lovely pure fruit on nose and palate. It is warm and medium-bodied, with dark cherry fruit, a firm structure and a spicy mid-palate. Six months of barrique ageing - in one-third used oak and two-thirds used foudres - gives it a smoky depth and a nice backbone of earthy tannins. If you find New Zealand Pinots overly fruity and unsubtle, try this - it shows less obvious fruit but has an earthiness and depth that gives it an added dimension. 11.5% ABV.
Slected in Decanter magazines Top 25 under £20: ... aromatic, fresh and dainty, with delicate, pure cherry fruit shining through both on the nose and the palate, which is polished off by a charmingly breezy finish (Decanter, March 2015).

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Pk6

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle

Product Description

Cloudy Bay is the standard bearer for Marlborough and New Zealand when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit for the Cloudy Bay Marlborough wines comes from the Cloudy Bay Estate vineyard in Rapaura, the "Widow's Block" in Renwick, the "Mustang" vineyard in Brancott Valley and the "Barracks Block" in the Omaka Valley. These sources are supplemented by fruit from a small number of long-time contract growers. The winemakers are Nick Blampied-Lane, Tim Heath and Sarah Burton, with Jim White as viticulturist. They are responsible for Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, the main white wines made.

Press Reviews

"I've tasted this - the new version of the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc - three times in the last week. I think it's one of the best ever. I know that it's a brand that has enjoyed celebrity status in the UK, so much so that it has even had to be allocated and/or bundled by retailers, because everyone wants some. And it hasn't always lived up to the reputation. But the 2014 vintage is a classic example of top-quality Marlborough Sauvignon, with exotic notes yet also lots of finesse. You pay for the quality, of course (around £20 retail), but it's just such a lovely wine with a great back story". (Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, 19 Oct 2014).

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle Our most popular Loire Sauvignon, preferrd by many to its more upfront New World cousins. This crisp, dry Sauvignon has lovely aromatics with an intense grassy-lemon nose, a supple palate and delicate flavours of gooseberry with subtle touches of green apple, kiwi, passion fruit and pineapple to delight the palate and engage the senses. It is well-balanced with a long, pleasing finish.
"Terrific Touraine Sauvignon, all smoky, minerally, greengage fruit and glorious greenery-yallery peashoot pizzazz that makes it the sort of summery thirst-quencher everyone needs in their wine rack, at an infinitely more appetising price than Sancerre." (Jane MacQuitty, Best White Wines for Summer, Times, 28 June 2014).
