Rustenberg Peter Barlow 2009 Pk6

  • N/A
  • N/A
  • N/A
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle This wine is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rustenberg's very finest vineyard. It is characterized by an upfront perfume, intermingled with concentrated cassis, black cherries and some herbaceousness.
"The 2009 Peter Barlow undergoes a fortnight's skin maceration with malolactic in barrel, then aged for 24 months in wood, of which 64% is new and the rest second and third fill. It has a potent bouquet of red cherries, raspberry, cigar box and leather that is nicely defined, perhaps a little old school. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft, sensual opening. The tannins feel saturated and render this a nubile Cabernet with a delicate touch of spice on the finish. Excellent. Drink now-2020." (Neal Martin,eRobertParker.com,Oct 2013).

Soalheiro Allo 2015 Pk6

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle The Melgaço region, the most northerly point of Portugal, is protected by a range of mountains that create the perfect conditions of rainfall, temperature and sunshine needed to perfectly ripen the Alvarinho grapes. The grapes for this wine, Alvarinho and Loureiro, two noble grape varieties of Minho in northern Portugal, are harvested by hand into small boxes. The palate shows citrus flavours with an underlying vibrant minerality. The Alvarinho, full of tropical fruit and structure, contrasts with the Loureiro, floral and full of elegance, which gives this wine a lovely balance. It is ideal as an aperitif or to accompany seafood dishes and fish. Incidentally, the name ALLO comes from the first two letters of Alvarinho and Loureiro.
" New, less jokey, label. Lovely fresh fragrance that perfectly reflects the two varieties - peachy citrus, pear, lightly floral, as well as a herbal note. But it is not simply fruity - there is also a stony dryness - - that is picked up on the palate with a hint of almonds on the finish. Deliciously dry finish even with this moderate level of alcohol. The quality of the 2015 vintage shines through. 16.5 Points." (Julia Harding, JR Purple Pages, Feb 2016)

The Chocolate Block 2014 Pk6

  • N/A
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle Our most popular wine in its price bracket. The Chocolate Block is a blend of Syrah (73%); Grenache Noir (12%); Cabernet Sauvignon (10%); Cinsault (4%) and Viognier (1%). The wine matures in 1st (all of the Cabernet Sauvignon), 2nd and 3rd filled French oak barrels for 16 months before it gets a light egg-white fining and filtration. From renowned South African winery Boekenhoutskloof, it has a sensual bouquet with intriguing nuances of raspberry, strawberry and hints of spice. The palate is medium-bodied, silky smooth with fine tannins. The 2014 is an exotic and vibrant vintage with an iron edge running alongside the inky core of prunes, mulberries, cloves and floral notes. Textured, composed and seamless in style, this is very well-balanced and focused with great freshness and verve and an elegant finish.
"Deep healthy crimson. Well blended. Rather drier and less luscious than I remember it, which is probably a good thing. Just a little tart on the end but it is impressively persistent. This should not disappoint. I wonder whether Marc Kent has ever staged a vertical to show how this ages?" 16 Points (Jancis Robinson Purple Pages, Feb 2016)

Roger Sabon Le Sabounet Nv

Pack of 12 x 750 ml Bottle The main feature of Le Sabounet is its fruity character allied to youthful freshness and smooth elegance. It is a wine made to be consumed in its youth. The grape varieties are the traditional Rhône staples, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Counoise. The wine is matured in traditional tanks for about 8 days. There is daily temperature checking and remontage (wine is drained out of the bottom of its tank, pumped up to the top and sprayed over the skins). This is a superb wine at a good price - an ideal accompaniment to any meaty family meal. Full-flavoured with helpings of spice and red berry fruit, the wine has a long, rounded finish. Great with red meat dishes and quite superb value for money. Read More......
