Soalheiro Alvarinho 2014 Pk6

  • N/A
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle One of the top properties producing Vinho Verde, Soalheiro is based in Melgaço, and specializes in the Alvarinho grape variety. They own 6 hectares, and the largest vineyard is just one hectare. The winery is run by Luís Cerdeira, son of the founder, and his brother João and sister Maria, who doubles as a vet. The grapes are harvested manually and carried immediately to the cellar in small boxes to retain absolute freshness. The aim of the vinification process is to obtain a wine that captures the quality of the grapes and creates conditions that promote evolution in the bottle. The resulting wine is a citrus colour with aromas of classic Alvarinho Soalheiro - intense and tropical with mineral notes. Soalheiro 2014 exudes delightful aromas with a palate that exhibits minerality and great elegance. Use as an aperitif or to accompany seafood, fish or poultry dishes.
Winner of a Gold Regional Trophy in the Decanter World Wine Awards 2015. This wine also won a Double Gold medal in Japan at the Sakaru Awards Competition.

Villa Wolf Pinot Noir 2013 Pk6

  • N/A
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle This was our first German Pinot Noir and its formidable success was in no small part down its provenance - it comes from the JL Wolf estate in Pfalz, which benefits from the steady, knowledgeable and quality-driven direction of Ernst Loosen. This has been a JN success story with customers returning for more after they experience the quality of this Pinot. The wine shows lovely pure fruit on nose and palate. It is warm and medium-bodied, with dark cherry fruit, a firm structure and a spicy mid-palate. Six months of barrique ageing - in one-third used oak and two-thirds used foudres - gives it a smoky depth and a nice backbone of earthy tannins. If you find New Zealand Pinots overly fruity and unsubtle, try this - it shows less obvious fruit but has an earthiness and depth that gives it an added dimension. 11.5% ABV.
Selected in Decanter magazines Top 25 under £20: ... aromatic, fresh and dainty, with delicate, pure cherry fruit shining through both on the nose and the palate, which is polished off by a charmingly breezy finish (Decanter, March 2015).

Castro Martin Albarino 2013

Pack of 12 x 750 ml Bottle

Product Description

Made from selected grapes in the estate's El Pazo and Castrelo vineyards on sandy soils with a base of granite and quartz at an altitude of between 50 and 250 metres. The vines have an average age of 50 years and are are trained on a pergola system, allowing improved circulation of air which minimises the risk of disease. The region is classified as Atlantic Maritime in climate with a mean average temperature 15°C (60°F) and rainfall of 1,700mm (67 inches). Grapes are harvested by hand using 20kg baskets and are further hand sorted in the cellar before gentle pressing.

The wine exhibits the fine, elegant qualities associated with this inceasingly popular grape. It expresses a distinct salty minerality on the nose, and an array of pure, clean, limpid white fruit aromas. The palate almost shimmers with tang and vibrancy, and although it has a steely precision, it is balanced by fruit with a peachy pear-like quality backed by a vivid streak of lemon and mineral acidity. Serve well chilled, between 9° and 12°C.

Press Reviews

The 2011 vintage of this wine was awarded 88 points by the influential Penin Guide to Spanish Wine 2013: "bright straw colour, nose of fresh white flowers, ripe fruit. Palate: flavourful, fruity, good acidity, balanced."

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle The Paco Garcia wines have been a huge success since their appearance on our shelvs a couple of years ago. This is a new winery in the DO Rioja, focused on producing high quality wines, which respects the deeply rooted traditions of Rioja in tandem with the most modern winemaking techniques. The Rioja Seis spends 6 months in French oak barrels (seis being Spanish for six). This young wine retains the fruitiness and freshness of the Tempranillo grapes. It displays powerful aromatics and a velvety mouthfeel. In the glass, it is a youthful blackberry and ruby red colour, clean and bright. The nose is an aromatic profusion of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and violets. On the palate, it is round and full with loads of fresh red fruit, floral tones and sweetness. The wine would be an ideal companion for light cheeses, salads, white meats and fish. It is also suitable for vegans and vegetarians. This wine received 88 points in the influential Penin Guide and was awarded the accolade of "4-star best buy". (Penin Guide to Spanish Wine, 2015). Read More......
