Barista Coffee Pinotage 2013 Pk6

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle A huge success since its introduction to JN customers a couple of years ago. Pinotage is a result of crossing Pinot Noir and Cinsaut (known as Hermitage in South Africa). Various batches of grapes for Barista are picked when optimal ripeness is reached. Some undergo immediate pressing and fermentation on oak to produce the rich, dark coffee aromas so characteristic of the wine. Others are femented conventionally on the skins and pumped over vigorously before completing the process in oak barrels. The result is a wine bursting with intense, rich coffee and chocolate aromas with ripe nuances of mulberry, plum and Maraschino cherries. The Barista Pinotage is very food friendly and partners with ease meat dishes and rich creamy casseroles to controversial desserts. Read More......

Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2013 Pk6

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle Most of the Secateurs Chenin vines were planted the 1960s and tend to yield around 4 tons/hectare. The first Secateurs Chenin Blanc bottled under the Badenhorst Family Wines range was in 2009 and marked the start of a continuing affair with this most wonderful grape. The wine spends some time on its lees in concrete tanks and this important part of the maturation of the wine shows in the incredible texture and palate weight of this wine. The aromas are flinty with honey, orange blossom and white stone fruit notes.
"While technically dry, the Secateurs presses enough sugar out the Chenin Blanc grapes to please those craving sweetness. It exhibits aromas of grapefruit and lemon without a hint of tartness; a beautifully balanced and simple wine, and maybe the finest South African white under $20." (Philip Guthrie, The Washingtonian, May 2013).
The 2012 vintage received 92 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, an outstanding score for such an affordable wine. Expect something similar from the just-released 2013.
Asked to recommend a great value "crowd pleaser" to buy by the case and pass out to neighbours top wine commentator Jancis Robinson replied: "A A Badenhorst Secateurs Blend, red or white, from South Africa. (JR in reply to Washington Post interview, 5 Dec 2013).

Product Description

From South Africa's Winery of the Year as judged by Platter's Wine Guide 2012, Franschhoek's Boekenhoutskloof is rightly regarded as one of South Africa's leading wineries, the only producer to be awarded 5-stars in Robert Parker's 7th Wine Buyers Guide. This blend of Syrah, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Viognier is matured in 600 litre barrels to retain the unmistakable fruit and freshness of the grapes. Aromas of spiced fruit and violet-infused perfume are followed by striking freshness on the firmly structured palate. Spicy oak aromas cover a rounded mid-palate that reveals layers of fruit with intense purity. This wine has excellent ageing potential and, once mature, will be the perfect accompaniment to rich, gamey dishes.

Press Reviews

South Africans (and many others) will kill for this. Very sweet and opulent. A great, flattering palate massage. (Jancis Robinson Purple Pages, 26 Oct 2012 on 2011 vintage).
This vintage shows massive floral perfume with underlying redcurrant, cedar, black pepper, coriander spice and hints of Turkish Delight. The macerated red fruit carries through onto a palate layered with marzipan, minerals and a superb velvety structure. Textured, composed and seamless in style. (Notes from Boekenhoutskloof winery).

Pack of 12 x 750 ml Bottle Fast becoming a JN best seller, not only because of its price but on account of its sheer undemanding drinkability. From the sunny south-western corner of France this wine is a blend of Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet vines grown on the hottest and driest soils of the Languedoc, this is a well priced wine with a flavousome, easy drinking style. It has a powerful aromatic nose of red fruits, spices and liquorice. The palate reveals silky tannins with flavours of blackberries and plum and the finish is quite lengthy considering the emminently affordable price. Great accompaniment for a beef fillet. A BBQ first choice. Read More......
