Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Pk6

  • N/A
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle

Product Description

Cloudy Bay is the standard bearer for Marlborough and New Zealand when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit for the Cloudy Bay Marlborough wines comes from the Cloudy Bay Estate vineyard in Rapaura, the "Widow's Block" in Renwick, the "Mustang" vineyard in Brancott Valley and the "Barracks Block" in the Omaka Valley. These sources are supplemented by fruit from a small number of long-time contract growers. The winemakers are Nick Blampied-Lane, Tim Heath and Sarah Burton, with Jim White as viticulturist. They are responsible for Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, the main white wines made.

Press Reviews

"I've tasted this - the new version of the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc - three times in the last week. I think it's one of the best ever. I know that it's a brand that has enjoyed celebrity status in the UK, so much so that it has even had to be allocated and/or bundled by retailers, because everyone wants some. And it hasn't always lived up to the reputation. But the 2014 vintage is a classic example of top-quality Marlborough Sauvignon, with exotic notes yet also lots of finesse. You pay for the quality, of course (around £20 retail), but it's just such a lovely wine with a great back story". (Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, 19 Oct 2014).

Forrest Heart Of Stone Sauvignon 2013

Pack of 12 x 750 ml Bottle Produced by renowned NZ winery Forrest Estate, this is among JN's most popular Sauvignons. The Forrest family arrived with the first wave of European settlers in Marlborough. The family has farmed for generations, but it was not until 1988 that Drs John and Brigid Forrest beagn winemaking. Their hands-on operation, blending art and science to produce wines of high quality and purity, has given Forrest an enviable international reputation witnessed by numerous awards.
Heart of Stone is sourced from grapes grown in several distinctly different sites within Marlborough in an area where the vines struggle for survival in ancient riverbed stones and gravel. The resultant crop amounts to only a handful of intensely flavoured grapes per vine. This is a vibrant wine with flavours of blackberry, gooseberry and passionfruit underscored by appetising, crisp acidity which produces a refreshing finish. It will partner white fish and salads to perfection.

Secateurs Red Blend 2012 Pk6

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle A A Badenhorst Family Wines received a 5-star rating in the influential and highly respected Platter's Guide to S African Wines, 2013 edition. The family took over an ancient winery in the up and coming Perdeberg area that had been built in the 1800s and had last been used in the 1930s. This meant fashionable concrete tanks and, according to the 2009 Platter Guide, a sizeable bat population. More importantly, they acquired 35 hectares of mature, dry-farmed bushvines, which clearly deliver great quality and complexity.
The wine was featured in Decanter's 58 great wines under £15: "Raspberry, plum and lollipop red fruits with a liquorice, pepper depth. Fruity roundness in the mouth supported by fine tannic backbone. Drink 2013 to 2016. 16.5 pts." (Decanter magazine, Feb 2013).
This estate has swiftly forged a reputation thanks to some stellar wines. The blend here is Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Cinsault and Grenache. The result is a bright red berry and cherry-infused wine with a herbal edge. (Decanter magazine, April 2004).
Asked to recommend a great value "crowd pleaser" to buy by the case and pass out to neighbours top wine commentator Jancis Robinson replied: "A A Badenhorst Secateurs Blend, red or white, from South Africa. (JR in reply to Washington Post interview, 5 Dec 2013).

Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle

Product Description

From South Africa's Winery of the Year as judged by Platter's Wine Guide 2012, Franschhoek's Boekenhoutskloof is rightly regarded as one of South Africa's leading wineries, the only producer to be awarded 5-stars in Robert Parker's 7th Wine Buyers Guide. This blend of Syrah, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Viognier is matured in 600 litre barrels to retain the unmistakable fruit and freshness of the grapes. Aromas of spiced fruit and violet-infused perfume are followed by striking freshness on the firmly structured palate. Spicy oak aromas cover a rounded mid-palate that reveals layers of fruit with intense purity. This wine has excellent ageing potential and, once mature, will be the perfect accompaniment to rich, gamey dishes.

Press Reviews

South Africans (and many others) will kill for this. Very sweet and opulent. A great, flattering palate massage. (Jancis Robinson Purple Pages, 26 Oct 2012 on 2011 vintage).
This vintage shows massive floral perfume with underlying redcurrant, cedar, black pepper, coriander spice and hints of Turkish Delight. The macerated red fruit carries through onto a palate layered with marzipan, minerals and a superb velvety structure. Textured, composed and seamless in style. (Notes from Boekenhoutskloof winery).
