An elegant and individualistic wine with a nose of earth, clove, minerality and red and black cherry. The palate is beautifully textured, smooth, fresh, spicy and medium bodied with a long, velvety rounded finish. It has a very warm and intense palate. Baltos seems to find favour with fans of the Pinot Noir grape, expect all the flavour encased in a more dense wine. Very enjoyable.

This wine is best decanted at least an hour before serving. Recommended serving temperature, 14°C, very lightly chilled.

It pairs perfectly with medium plus intensity dishes like tapas, snacks, white meat, paella, pasta and stews.

Dominio de Tares is situated in Bierzo, one of the most talked about wine regions of Spain. Mencía is the red grape variety of choice in the area. It is responsible for wines that embody complexity, opulence and intriguing aromatics. The high altitude of the vines moderates the opulence and power by investing the wines with great freshness and a streak of illusive minerality.

Baltos is made from 100% old vine Mencía with very low yields, aged in American and French oak for 6 months and 12 months in bottle before release.
