A very seductive and elegant wine, exhibiting white flowers, grapefruit, lime and a beautiful mineral touch. Very long on the palate with great texture and aftertaste.

A field blend of 70 years old vines including Viosinho, Rabigato, Côdega do Larinho, and Gouveio. Situated on north facing slopes at 600m altitude. Hand harvested grapes, de-stemmed, and fermented in French oak barrels (9% new) for four - six weeks. Aged in the same for 8 months with batonnage.

Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges began their adventure in 2001. In the beginning, the young couple had no vineyards and no wine, but they shared a dream, a personal project to which they have devoted themselves body and soul.

The name Wine & Soul is the product of their passion and total commitment to wine. From the start, this company’s work has focused on a tireless search for exceptional vines in the Pinhão Valley – the historic heart of great Port wines – to give them a voice.

Wine & Soul embodies the spirit of a new wave of top quality Douro Wines, sourced from very old vineyards, low yields, limited production showcase the character of each particular vineyard and the very special nature of each unique terroir. Wines crafted with minimum intervention, letting nature and terroir take the lead and speak for themselves.

"The white 2022 Guru comes from a number of old vineyards, all planted with a field blend of varieties, in the village of Murça. It fermented, by vineyard, in barrels and matured in them, with only 5% new barrels (just to renew them) and a majority of 500-liter ones—a far cry from the first years of small barrel and 100% new oak. In principle, it doesn't go through malolactic fermentation, and the wine has a lot of tension and even citrus freshness, quite impressive for such a warm year. It's textured and elegant, very nicely crafted and balanced. The wine has a moderate 12.5% alcohol, meaning some plots were even lower (and some higher, of course). It's approachable now, but it should age very nicely. Drink to 2034."
