      Tasting Notes and Description
Bright and intense colour with spring flower, white peach and vivid lime aromas. Round and almost creamy on the palate with real freshness, purity of flavours and beautiful balance.

This wine stems from a 55 years old vineyard planted with Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho on a north facing slope of granitic soil. Hand harvested grapes, destemmed, pneumatic press, and vinified in stainless steel at low temperatures for 6 weeks. Aged in steel sur lies for 8 months.

Jorge Serôdio Borges is the 5th generation of a long line of wine producers and winery owners. Therefore, in 2009 Sandra and Jorge acquired “Quinta da Manoella”, an estate with a history that dates back to 1838.

The Quinta da Manoella vineyards are over a hundred years old, bordered on both sides by young vineyards that are 30 years old, some even more recent. Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas was immediately recognized as one of the greatest wines of Douro.

Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges began their adventure in 2001. In the beginning, the young couple had no vineyards and no wine, but they shared a dream, a personal project to which they have devoted themselves body and soul.

The name Wine & Soul is the product of their passion and total commitment to wine. From the start, this company’s work has focused on a tireless search for exceptional vines in the Pinhão Valley – the historic heart of great Port wines – to give them a voice.

Wine & Soul embodies the spirit of a new wave of top quality Douro Wines, sourced from very old vineyards, low yields, limited production showcase the character of each particular vineyard and the very special nature of each unique terroir. Wines crafted with minimum intervention, letting nature and terroir take the lead and speak for themselves.

"56-year-old vineyard planted with Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho on a north-facing slope of granitic soil in the Cima Corgo. The harvest started on 18 August, in perfect weather conditions. All grapes previously selected and destemmed were pressed in a pneumatic press and fermented in stainless-steel tanks at low temperatures for 6 weeks, after which the wine was aged sur lies for 8 months. TA 5.7 g/l, pH 3.21.
Intense lemon and lime notes, less stony than the Guru 2021 just tasted, more fruity. Although on the day after opening, this seems more mineral than at first. On the palate, there's a lovely stony texture, not chalky but dry and very fine-grained and adding to the freshness. Youthful, pure and needs time to show its breeding but already has an impressively long, citrus-salty mouth-watering aftertaste. Intensity without weight. Drink to 2028."

"The 2022 Manoella Branco comes from a high-altitude vineyard on granite soils surrounded by forest in the village of Pombal, with old vines of a field blend of Viosinho, Rabigato, Códega and Gouveio. It was fermented in stainless steel and concrete eggs and kept with fine lees for around six months with bâtonnage to give it more creaminess on the palate, as the wine has higher acidity. It's elegant, with the austerity and finesse from the granite. They picked early in warm 2022 when only the old vines cushioned the heat, but they kind of stopped. The wine is 12.5% alcohol. They produced 30,000 bottles. Drink to 2028."
