      Tasting Notes and Description
"Fonte del Re" is a landmark that indicates the place where an ancient spring flowed near Morro d'Alba, the town on the Marche hills, which gives the name to the DOC classification since 1985. "Lacrima" (which means "tear") it is so called for the typical "drop" shape of the grape cluster, when the fruit has come to its full ripeness. This is a grape variety known since long time, saved from extinction and today it is cultivated in a very small production area around Morro d'Alba, about 15 km from the Adriatic Sea.

This Fonte Del Re Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC produced by Umani Ronchi winery is a very delicate and particularly vinous wine. After an alcoholic and malolactic fermentation of up to 10 days in steel, at a temperature of 24 °C, the wine ages in tank for about 4 months, followed by a short refinement in the bottle before being released onto the market, vibrancy and freshness are the driving force.

It has an intense ruby red colour with clear purple undertones. On the nose there is a delicate and distinctive aroma's of roses, violets and aromatic berries. Dry and warm flavour, with clear but not sharp tannins. Soft and rather round on the palate, it shows good body, vitality and persistence.

"Lacrima is a native red grape variety found in central Italy. It delivers a dark, rich ruby color, with aromas of sweet forest berry, violet, rose petal, turkish delight, and a touch of cinnamon spice. It has generous floral aromas that almost recall Pinot Noir, and an easy finish."
      (Wine Enthusiast Magazine)

"Aromas of plums, peaches, strawberries, pink peppercorns, tangerine peel and licorice. Medium-bodied with vibrant fruit and firm, chewy tannins. Excellent concentration with gently bitter violet and peel notes to the fruit. Drink in 2023."
