Enormously fresh and slightly vegetal nose with rich violet notes and already immense stony minerality and cold smoke. Also coffee, slate, chocolate, smoke and wood in the berry fruit. Tar and blood. Very chalky mouth, superbly integrated acidity, rich, deft in structure with an elegant, medium body. Ethereally expressive, voluminous and enormously drinkable, lots of pull in the juicy, drinkable flow. Moderate tannin, tasty, berry-stony finish. Demanding and a pleasure to drink at the same time.
Kolor is a red wine produced with Mencía grapes from vineyards that are over 50 years old, located in the heart of the Bierzo region, in the village of Valtuille de Abajo, an area with clay soils.
Whole bunch fermentation takes place in large oak vats. Maceration lasts between two to five months, with subsequent ageing in oak barrels and cement for another 12 months. Kolor is bottled without fining or filtration.
Kolor is much more than a wine, it is an experience born from the joint work of Rául Pérez and the contemporary artist Okuda San Miguel with a very clear objective: to thrill. Raúl Pérez Pereira is one of the best winemakers in the world. This viticulturist born in Valtuille de Abajo (León) in 1972 is an inescapable reference in Bierzo.
Okuda San Miguel is speaks a unique iconographic language with his geometric structures and multicolored patterns, together with his active participation in major social projects, has made him one of the world’s most recognised and admired artists.
"A one-off collaboration between artist Okuda San Miguel and winemaker Raúl Perez, the 2019 Kolor Okuda San Miguel & Raúl Pérez is presented in a colorful etched bottle. It was produced with grapes from a vineyard in Villadecanes from which they selected 50 barrels and 12 other barrels from the Cabanelas cru, the largest one in Valtuille, a zone that tends to deliver ripe wines from clay and boulder soils. Here they were looking for a fruit-driven wine that is easier to drink and more immediate, with sweet fruit and a juicy palate. Drink 2022 - 2026."

"Mature nose with fresh dark fruit, pomegranate and cedar wood aromas. Silky, bitter chocolate on the palate, with red berry fruit, chalky tannins and a herbal edge. Grippy tannins add character to the fine, complex finish. Drink 2023 - 2029. Alc. 13.5%"
