Cherry red colour, vivid and deep. Intense in aromas, it reveals spicy and balsamic tones along with very fresh fruit. Sweet and tasty on the palate, with an intense concentration of fruit and toasted tones that leave a persistent and balanced aftertaste. Red and black fruit mingle with supple tannin and a brisk lick of acidity make it a beautiful partner to autumnal stews and casseroles.

Grenache 70% & 30% Miguel del Arco (A red grape indigenous to the regions of Valencia and Alicante, currently in the process of being recovered for wine production).

The name Quercus refers to the species of oak tree that is native to most of Europe and the type of oak in which this wine rests for the months before release.

A thrilling new vintage from the Bodega Jesus Romero and the big brother to the delightful Jesus Romero Rubus. This wine is made in even smaller quantities, roughly 300 cases this year and is a richer more brooding prospect. Built upon a blend of Garnacha (70%) and Miguel del Arco (30%) the wine has increased complexity and structure due to ageing in French oak for 5 months. Rubus wine is not clarified, not stabilised and not filtered.

"The 2021 Rubus Quercus (Juanvi Quercus in the US) is a blend of approximately 70% Garnacha and 30% Miguel del Arco from 40- to 50-year-old vines at 800 to 960 meters in altitude. 2021 was cooler, healthy but low yielding because of a snowstorm in January and frost in April. It fermented with some 10% full clusters and indigenous yeasts with a long maceration of four weeks and matured in second and third used 500-liter oak barrels for six months. It has a bright ruby color and a perfumed and floral nose and is elegant, very tasty, harmonious and nuanced. It's spicy and fresh, with integrated oak, and it's more soil- than fruit-driven. It's ripe with 14.4% alcohol and good freshness. 6,600 bottles were filled in two lots, in May and December 2022. Drink 2023 - 2028. 93 points."
