      Tasting Notes and Description
Pale yellow in colour. The nose displays elegant and discreet aromatics, some floral notes but mostly spicy with green pepper, thyme, nutmeg. It has a medium intensity but is quite persistent. The delicacy of the aromas is such that it isn’t an overpowering big style Gewurztraminer and it will even be easier to accommodate it with food. Indice 1: The palate shows good intensity with a seriously dry texture. Again, the spicy character, enhanced by velvety tannins, increases the length sensation and salty mouthfeel on the finish. This wine should go well with most summer dishes, grilled fish, bbq sausages/chicken, light spicy food…. (Winemakers Note - August 2022)

With an unbroken winemaking lineage in Alsace since 1620, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht came by its current name in 1959 when Leonard Humbrecht married Genevieve Zind. In the 1960s and 1970s, Leonard was able to expand the winery's collection of Grands Crus and other high quality vineyards. Since then, one of the hallmarks of every Zind-Humbrecht wine has been its overriding sense of terroir: the taste of the vineyard is always clear and unmistakable.

Zind-Humbrecht is managed by Olivier Humbrecht, one of the world's only winemakers to attain MW status. His passion for Alsatian wines and Biodynamic farming translates into a portfolio of legendary wines recognisable for their purity, intensity and, above all, their faithful expression of each individual vineyard site. The 2018 grapes were beautiful and healthy.

"Deep and spicy with pronounced sandalwood notes. A generous gewurz that has modest acidity, but fine tannins that balance the richness very well. Long, bone-dry finish. From over 70-year-old vines. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
