      Tasting Notes and Description
The nose is bold, intense, and rich with its stone fruit aromas of cling peach, nectarine and yellow plum and gentle whiffs of angelica, spice, and fresh ginger. The palate is focused and balanced, with yellow apple flavours, honeydew melon, papaya, poached pear and hints of dragon fruit and lime adding to its complexity. The wine is medium-bodied, elegant, and vibrant with zesty yet integrated acidity. It is clean and dry on the mid-palate, with notes of crisp green apple and tangerine lingering on a refreshing finish.

When the farm was founded, the Franschhoek valley was far wilder than it is today – as the wolf trap we once discovered goes to show. Today, the mountains are still alive with indigenous animals, including the majestic leopard. No evidence of wolves has ever been found though, so we created this wine to remind us of the mysteries and legends of days gone by.

This unusual blend of Viognier 43% (for spice), Chenin Blanc 41% (melon) and Grenache Blanc 16% (white peach), contributes to an intriguing and harmonious quaffing experience. Separate fermentation and ageing of all components enable us to identify the very best quality available to craft our classic three-variety blend. The vibrant mid-palate and crisp finish was achieved this year by increasing the percentage of Chenin Blanc used in the blend.

An alluring nose shows white peach, apricot and apple blossom aromas in abundance. The nose follows through with flavours of nectarine and hints of pineapple and peach melba. The wine is smooth and round with slight oak nuances, a fleshy mid-palate, balanced, integrated acidity and a vibrant, lingering, stone fruit finish.

Boekenhoutskloof was awarded the The Platter's 'Winery of the Year' by Diners Club South African Wine Guide 2020.
