Coming from a winemaking family for several generations, we have created our domain in 1981. Our son Matthieu moved with us early in 2009: a passion for him too! With 15 hectares of vines planted in Gamay, we produce five titles, including 4 crus. The area is located 300 meters on the hillside overlooking the Ardières' Valley, offering to the visitor a magnificent view over the vineyard.
The Rochettes work with a very traditional but also clearly very rigorous approach to the viticulture, and, as usual in Beaujolais, where the 'gobelet' training of the vines make them impossible to work by machine, they hand-pick and make a severe selection in the vineyard. Vinification is traditional, in cuve, to make wines which accentuate fruit purity. The wines have a real identity of their own - as Matthieu says 'it is the terroir that gives us the distinction to the wines - we do not interfere in the cellar - and they all come from the same grape' - Gamay.
Winemaker's Note - "This is the specialty of the area and our largest component. Located in the heart of the crus (between Morgon and Brouilly) Regnie is the prince of the Crus. Rich wine, full-bodied with aromas of currant and raspberry, smooth tannins that allow it to age well. This comes from granite soils and has good south / southeast exposure."
"Plummy, floral style with plenty of fruit concentration and furry tannic grip on the palate. Has the light body of beaujolais, but cru-level fruit concentration. Just a bit of metallic character on the finish."
16 points."
