Bouquet: A ripe, citrus driven Chardonnay. Characteristic biscuit and oatmeal secondary characters and mild flinty notes contrast and compliment the fruit.
Palate: Our hallmark fresh, vibrant acidity offered by the Mendoza clone offers vitality and vibrancy. A modest amount of new oak delivering subtle char and phenolic structure to the wine. An intensely flavoured yet youthful and lively vintage for Dog Point Chardonnay.
Food match: Scallops, white fish and BBQ Pork.
Cellaring: Five to seven years.
"A blend of Mendoza and Clone 95, all wild-fermented in barrel with 15% new oak, the 2016 Chardonnay is a terrific effort. Struck flint and pencil shavings mark the nose, alongside toasted almonds, pineapple and melon notes. It's medium to full-bodied, with a silky texture and long, citrusy finish. It should age up to a decade.
(Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate, March 2019)
"Shows terrific intensity, with tangy Meyer lemon, pear and lime zest notes, accented by touches of caramel and spice. Finishes with focus and mouthwatering acidity."
