"My personal selection contains some of my favourite wines that are very easy to enjoy; brimming with sunshine, sheer pleasure in a glass."
James.
The case consists of one bottle of each wine:
Umani Ronchi CaSal di Serra Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore 2024, Le Marche, Italy
Umani Ronchi is among the top producers in eastern Italy. 'CaSal di Serra' is an organic Verdicchio sourced from select hillside plots between the Apennines and Ancona. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged briefly on the lees, it's vivid and expressive, with notes of ripe lemon, ginger and gardenia. A creamy texture is lifted by bracing acidity and an almond-kissed finish.
Domaine Manciat-Poncet Mâcon-Charnay 2023, Burgundy, France
Marie-Pierre Manciat-Poncet represents the sixth generation of her family to craft wine in the Mâconnais. Best known for her Pouilly-Fuissé and Pouilly-Vinzelles, she brings the same finesse to her Mâcon-Charnay 'Les Chênes'. Sourced from old vines on limestone soils and vinified entirely in stainless steel, it offers a fresh, mineral-tinged profile with notes of Bartlett pear, fern, and acacia. Medium-bodied and vibrant.
Quinta Soalheiro Granit Alvarinho 2024, Monção and Melgaço, Portugal
The Soalheiro will be familiar to many. Their zesty Alvarinhos have delighted our customers for many years and garnered considerable critical acclaim. 'Granit', produced from vines grown on soils of the same name at 400m altitude, is perhaps their best value iteration. With a piercing, mountain freshness and notes of wet stones, pink grapefruit and a gentle salinity, this is an intense and eminently age worthy Alvarinho.
Bodegas Urbina Rioja Crianza 2015, Rioja Alta, Spain
A stunning Crianza from the resolutely traditional Bodegas Urbina. Located in Rioja Alta, Urbina craft elegant, mineral driven expressions of Rioja that exude classicism. With long ageing both in barrel and bottle prior to release, their wines convey a complexity that belies their price. This 2015 Crianza offers notes of dried cherry, saddle leather and sweet tobacco, all wrapped up in lacy tannins and a fine acidity.
Château Quilex Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Gadagne 2022, Southern Rhône, France
This excellent Quilex Côtes-du-Rhône Villages hails from the village of Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne, just east of Avignon. Château Quilex, derived from the Latin for 'Holm oak', is produced in much the same way as the wines from its famous namesake slightly further north. A blend of Grenache and Syrah with long ageing in oak before release, it is broad and spicy with red and black fruits, warming herbs and dusty tannins.
Pike & Joyce Vue du Nord Pinot Noir 2023/2024, Adelaide Hills, Australia
A collaboration between the Pikes family, revered producers in the Clare Valley, and the Joyce family, winegrowers in the Lenswood subregion of the Adelaide Hills. Sourced from Pinot Noir vines at the region's highest elevations. This wine offers exquisite delicacy, lifted rose petal aromas and bright, cranberry like acidity plus subtle hints of forest floor and Crème de Griotte.
