Located in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie vineyards near the village of
Ampuis, Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin was created in 1983 with vines
inherited from his father and grandfather and they began to bottle and
sell under the Jean-Michel Gerin brand.
2016 was another fantastic year in the Rhone valley and Syrah "The Champine" is a clear example of how the Domaine Jean Michel Gerin is able to make different styles of wine. From more structured wines, such as his Cote Roties to lighter ones, always ensuring a great quality in the glass. A real staff favourite and pairs well with both red and white meats. Juicy, vibrant fruit with a lovely long finish.
Ripe and focused, with pure cassis, violet, blackberry and black tea notes framed by a hint of singed apple wood. The long finish is finely tuned.
Pairs well with red meats such as beef and game, ravioli with truffles, blue cheeses and strong cheeses.
"A terrific value in Syrah from the Northern Rhône, the La Champine offers notes of violets, raspberries and cracked peppercorns on the nose. It's silky and medium-bodied in the mouth, with red-fruit flavors alongside hints of thyme and sage. The finish is long and mouthwatering. Drink now – 2025.
