Our working methods reflect our aspirations to make wines of high quality. The production of healthy grapes is thus fundamental to the domain’s philosophy.
Consequently, we use organic growing practices at Coste Chaude: application of natural fertilisers according to the needs of each soil type, disease-control by using environmentally friendly sprays, natural grass cover to prevent erosion and soil depletion. For us, this procedure is a transitional phase towards a more biodynamic approach.
Without doubt, JN's most popular Cotes du Rhone, not just because of its great value, but there's quality in abundance too. It is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. It is made in a traditional fashion with two weeks in vat and gentle pressing to avoid over-extraction. The wine is a deep, inviting garnet red in the glass.
The nose exudes a festival of red and black fruit with some floral notes. On the palate, the wine is fresh, medium bodied and fleshy with velvety tannins and flavours that evoke sweet violet, cranberries and spices.
A perfect foil for meat dishes, veal 'blanquette' (stew) and charcuterie. Serve at 16-18°C.
Decanter Magazine recently awarded this wine a silver medal in their annual competition and adorned the wine with a 90 point score.
