Chemin de Moscou comes from old vines of Syrah - 70%, Grenache - 25% and 5% Cinsault grown on the estate's terraced vineyards which have been cultivated since Roman times. 21 months in French oak : A third of the Syrah in ‘Burgundy’ new oak for 9 months. Grenache and Cinsault in 500 litre ‘demi-muids’ and 2000 litre ‘foudres’ for 9 months. Blending of the best barrels of each variety followed by a further 12 months maturation of the final blend in the same barrels.
Deep purple, almost opaque in colour with an expressive nose of black fruits, pepper, cinnamon, spice and violets. A seductive palate of dark hedgerow fruits, very open and welcoming with an explosion of fruit and spice. Mineral undertones.
We are delighted to announce that Challenge Millésime Bio 2018 have awarded a Gold Medal to our Chemin de Moscou 2015. This is a significant recognition of the hard work, passion and dedication of Vincent and his team in creating this award winning organic wine.
"A very traditional Southern French blend of mainly Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault, this rivals some of the bigger names of the Languedoc for power and finesse. Its rounded combination of rich, ripe fruits has enough structure to improve over the years. But drink now with rare roast beef or steak-frites." (Terry Kirby, The Independent, 19 Oct 2014).
"Deep crimson. Rich and refined. Not overdone and very appetising. A hint of salt and treacle. Very suave and polished. Quite rich but very appetising too. Good to see this important wine evolving with the times. Good freshness.
