a more reductive, almost Burgundian style that gives this Kiwi Sauvignon a distinct perspective from its Marlborough peers. The nose is a moody, smoky, mix of juicy lime and lemon grass that spreads across the palate with medium weight and a very creamy texture.

      Tasting Notes
The Dog Point wines have been charming their way into the affections of JN staff and customers alike since their arrival. The vineyard combines the considerable wine growing experience of former Cloudy Bay personnel Ivan Sutherland and James Healy. The Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic wine bursting with citrus, tropical fruit and fragrant, fresh summer herbs. The palate is generous and concentrated with excellent balance of fruit and acidity.

Steven Spurrier of Decanter magazine considers that Dog Point produces the best Sauvignons in the Marlborough region and this wine continually makes an appearance in Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 wines of the year.

Palate: A juicy and vibrant palate of pure citrus flavours leaving a lengthy finish with refreshing, balanced acidity.

Food match: Fresh, simple seafood dishes especially oysters. Also compliments goat's cheese well.

"The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc shows hints of green on the nose but sits more firmly in the fig and stone fruit camp. It's medium-bodied, with a white grapefruit element that extends from start to finish, providing a backbone for the riper notes. Clean and refreshing, it should be consumed over the next year or two.
      90 Points."
(Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate # 235, Feb 2018)

"Very intense nose with massive extract and intensity. No sign of any 2017 problems here. Very Sancerre-like. Clean, fresh and super-refreshing. Very superior and unlike the Marlborough mainstream. Drink 2018 - 2019.
      16.5 points."
(Julia Harding, JR Purple Pages, April 2018)
