All the Syrah grapes are handpicked and hand sorted. 30% Whole bunch is foot crushed into concrete Nomblot tanks, after which the other 70% is destemmed over the whole bunches. Spontaneous, natural fermentation occurs with minimal punch downs and pump over’s. Natural secondary fermentation occurs in 2nd and 3rd fill French casks and in 2500 l Foudres. The wine ages for 16 months in oak and another 3 months in stainless steel, before bottling.
"The 2015 Syrah, which comes from granite soils and biodynamically cultivated vines, has a tightly wound but pure bouquet at first with blueberry, boysenberry, iris and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very good backbone, a fine bead of acidity with black fruit infused with truffle, clove, white pepper and a touch of rosemary. I love the length here, the freshness and complexity, a Syrah with a long future ahead. This is stunning value. 93 Points."
