Bernard Fouquet—formerly recorded under the name Domaine des Aubuisières—is a top producer in Vouvray and offers some of the most fascinating modern Chenin Blancs that we have tasted recently. The wines combine purity and finesse with a round and fruity juiciness, which give them a rather round and charming, but also refined character. Sourced from 30 hectares of vines on two main different soil types (clay and limestone; silty clay soils), these dry or medium-dry wines are fermented with natural yeasts in both stainless steel and temperature-controlled oak vats.
This interesting and delightful dry Vouvray shows a very clean and intense nose with supple aromas of ripe fruit. Wonderfully fresh with good underlying acidity and a nice balance; rich on fruit with apples pears, peaches hazelnuts and almonds It has a complex and well-textured finish and impressive length. The wine is made from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes.
