Chateau de Beauregard Pouilly Fuisse Vers Cras 2014
Vers Cras’ is a well -known ‘Climat’ located on the windy and chalky plateau of Beauregard, from the village of Solutré-Pouilly. The name ‘Cras’ means chalk in our local dialect.
Château de Beauregard owns almost 4 ha of ‘Vers Cras’ and produces about 10 000 bottles of this prestigious Pouilly-Fuissé.
Grape variety : Chardonnay 100% - Average age of the vines: 30 years. 100% hand picked.
After a rigorous ‘débourbage’ (24 to 36 hours), the cuvée ferments in oak ’pièces’ (228l burgundian barrel), 1/4 in new oak and the other in older pieces (one to three wines); thus we respect a slow process of fermentation in order to express the individual expression of the ‘Terroir’. The aromas and the flavours reveal the mineral (chalk) and the vegetal (fern, boxwood). Here, the Terroir overpass the fruit expression. The finish is balanced and rich. This wine is complex and subtle.
Serve between 12 and 15°C ‘Vers Cras’ will enhance scallops, grilled or ‘en sauce’ fish, poultry (poulet de Bresse à la crème), ‘quenelles’ and ‘andouillettes’ and of course goat cheese from the Mâconnais.
