Our most popular Riesling by a long way, the Loosen (pronounced LOH-zen) vineyards owe their excellent quality to three major factors: the exceptional regional climate of the Middle Mosel area, the mineral-rich slate and volcanic soils, and the incredible age of the estate's ungrafted Riesling vines. Low yields, late harvesting and thoughtful winemaking characterise the Dr Loosen creations. This entry level Estate Riesling displays the racy characteristics of the steep, slate soil Mosel vineyards at a very reasonable price. This is a relatively new product with fruit sourced exclusively from the Loosen vineyards rather than contracted growers. The wine shows real integrity. Light, yet vibrant, with enticing aromas of white peach flowers and citrus peel, at 8.5% abv it's great for lunchtime drinking or a pre-dinner aperitif.
A dusting of pollen and saffron accentuates this bright, sunny Riesling full of peach and nectarine flavors. Off dry in style, it’s juicy and thirst quenching, but thoroughly four-square iin structure, bolstered by a foundation of fresh, revitalizing acidity. 88 Points (Wine Enthusiast, April 2016)
