Domaine du Joncier Lirac Rose 2013 75cl
There are many similarities between Lirac on the right bank of the southern Rhône with neighbouring Tavel and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Domaine du Joncier under the stewardship of Marine Roussel has terraced vineyards of alluvial soil and galets roulés just like Chateauneufs terraces across the river. With maximum sun exposure grapes attain perfect ripeness and also benefit from the influence of the Mistral whose regular gusts help rid the vines of parasites and mildew throughout the growing year.
Marine has achieved organic and biodynamic certification. Her soils are alive with microbiotic activity lending a hand in both current and long-term sustainability of her land.
The rosé is a blend of Cinsaut and Grenache with a delightful soft stawberry taste and a refreshing underlay of minerality.
"Tavel-like with its darker raspberry color, the 2013 Lirac Le Rose offers plenty of Bing cherry and darker berry-like fruit, citrus and spice in its medium-bodied, straightforward profile. Made in a richer style, enjoy it over the coming year or so.
