Hand-picked fruit from the Wairau, Brancott, Northbank and Awatere districts, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new French oak barriques. Full, deep, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues on rim. The bouquet is elegantly proportioned and tightly packed with deep aromas of ripe, black berry and cherry fruit with raspberry liqueur, dark herb, spicy oak and nutty complexities. Medium-full bodied, concentrated and sweetly rich fruit flavours of dark red berry fruit, raspberry liqueur and liquorice feature on the palate forming a deep heart. The fruit sweetness is enriched by bright acidity and supported by fine, grainy tannin extraction, providing a balanced and complete mouthfeel. The palate leads to a concentrated and long-lingering finish with ripe plum and spicy oak elements. This is a fresh, concentrated and sweetly rich Pinot Noir with flavours of ripe, dark raspberry fruit, and fine structure. Match with duck, pork and lamb over the next 5-6 years. 2,500 cases made. 18.5-/20." (raymondchanwinereviews.co.nz, Jan 2014).
"Pale to medium ruby purple in color, the Forrest Pinot Noir offers up a nose of ripe black cherries and black raspberries complemented by hints of underbrush and Provence herbs. Framed around a decent core of uncomplicated black and red berry flavors, the medium body is supported by a low level of chewy tannins and lively acid through the medium to long finish. Drink it now to 2016. 87 pts." (Lisa Perotti-Brown, eRobertParker.com, Oct 2013).
"Rich fruit tinged with cocoa and lavender, this wine is poised and cheerful. It has a slightly earthy nose underneath the pretty aromatics, with delicate cranberries and cherries on a sweet-savoury palate, then hints of coffee on the finish. 91 Points."
